Potential Setback????

I weigh, at home, only once a week.  Thursday is my weigh in day.  Today, I got on our trusty WW scale armed with pen and paper ready to record my weight, BMI, fat content, H2O content etc.  Ughhhh!  I gained this week.  After a thorough examination of my week to date, the biggest difference from previous weeks was the amount of time and intensity I spent on the treadmill and with the weights.

Memo to Bill..............Look dummie, you can not expect weight loss without putting in the time with weights and treadmill!  The sad part is that I know my metabolism needs a jolt every morning and the most succesful way, for me, is any combination of aerobic/strength workouts.  I let myself be fooled to think otherwise.  Sure enough, the day got away for me without any workout.  So, tomorrow I am going to try and make up for some of my missed training sessions and although doing so most likely won't be refelected in the 'offical' WW weigh in on Saturday morning, I am sure that I will feel better about myself and back in control.

  1. Exercise is a must, as you know, so learn from this mistake and attack harder next week. Do NOT try to make up for what you saw on the scale tomorrow in one day. I did that before during thie journey and regretted it. Yes the scale reflected but I felt terrible physically. Plus we all know with your heart, you cant push the limits.

I have been stressing a little about my knee. I did a lot of exercises that I probably shouldnt have done with the severity of this injury. I am really going to try to pay attention to what I eat, less complex carbs and grains. I have done research and been playing around this weeek with workouts that do not hurt my knee, and I am just about there to where I can CrossFit my way around without too much strain on my knee.

  2. Not to worry about my heart, but thanks anyway. Remember, I exercise well within my target heart rate and rarely exceed it. I just finished a fairly rigorous treadmill interval session and the highest my heart rate went was 120 which is around 78% of my max. My heart rate went back to a normal, 73 BPM in about 7 minutes. That's not too bad of a recovery time.

  3. Well, my worst fears were realized. I not only gained this week, the gain was much more than I anticipated pretty much canceling last week's loss. I have reviewed my tracking and activity logs and while my activity was less than usual, my food intake was on target making the gain even more perplexing. One other factor was my being out of my dieuretic for about four days, but even so it's hard to reconcile the significant weight gain. Oh well, I'll just have to work harder this week. Initially, I was really bummed out. But after being reminded by Sara that I am still 25#s lighter than when I started, I have a more positive perspective regarding my journey. On a better note......... Team Orth had a net loss of almost 8 pounds even with my gain!!! Way to go guys!! Let's give a BIG shout out to Chris for acheiving the big 60!!! That's pounds lost, not age!!! What an accomplishment!!! You inspire me, Chris.
